The ASEAN Learning Series on strengthening the roles of agricultural cooperatives in addressing the challenges and opportunities of AEC. The event was held in Thailand and Philippines in March 2016, participated by the government officials and farmers from 8 ASEAN Member States.

Participants highlighted that the capacity building in cooperative management, new production techniques, controlling of product quality along the value chain, and customer orientation was essential to build up strong cooperatives. Further, participants also shared the need to foster the established networks and knowledge sharing platforms for cooperatives and farmer organisations on good practices of cooperatives.
