This report outlines land rights and land tenure issues in Myanmar. Key issues that may benefit from high impact interventions from donors are supporting the development of a land policy, comprehensive land law and related implementing rules and regulations, improving tenure security for vulnerable populations, improving land tenure security for women, reducing landlessness, bringing compulsory acquisition policies in line with international best practices, promoting expansion and improvement of community forest user groups, supporting more sustainable water management, and supporting regulation of the mining industry.
